Barry Smith reads from his latest collection at the latest Write Out Loud poetry event in Woking. From Write Out Loud’s Facebook page;
It’s our absolute pleasure to welcome as guest poet at Write Out Loud Woking at the Lightbox an influential figure who really makes things happen on the poetry scene, and is a very fine poet in his own right. Barry Smith is director of the South Downs Poetry Festival and co-ordinator of the Festival of Chichester. He curates the poetry element of Blakefest and edits Poetry & All That Jazz magazine. His collection, Performance Rites, was published by Waterloo Press in 2021. He has worked in education, as a theatre director and as a critic. His poems have appeared in journals and magazines, as well as online and on YouTube, including Acumen, Agenda, Culture Matters, Frogmore Papers, the Journal, the Stony Thursday Book, London Grip, Orbis and Poetry South East. He can sometimes be caught hobnobbing with jazz and roots musicians as a performance poet, and recently performed at the Horsham Shout Out for Shelley bicentenary event with multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Gann, alongside Attila the Stockbroker.
